Why is knowledge essential?

Knowledge means information and literacy. A man who has knowledge is called Aalim (knowledgeable). Darkness of ignorance and illiteracy can only be removed with the light of knowledge is the way towards progress in every feild of life. It is the shield to protect the communities from destruction. It is the strength to combat various weaknesses. It is courage on cowardice knowledge is the key to know oneself. It is knowledge which tells a human-being the reason of his birth and existence and the responsibilities entrusted to him. Knowledge distinguishes man from other creatures and because of this knowledge man is called ‘Ashraful Makhluqat’ (Best of all creatures). In the world only those communities have flourished whose children are literate.
Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (Sallallaho Alayhi Wasallam) has said ”Mother is the first school of a child”. If a mother is literate then she will bring up the child better and teach him the difference between good or bad, to respect the elders and love the younger ones and to stay away from evil things. The community where the daughters are educated, they will be good mothers and good mothers will prepare good children which will create a good society.
Highlighting the importance of education, Prophet (Sallallaho Alayhi Wasallam) said that, ”It is the duty of all muslim man and women to acquire knowledge”. Prophet (Sallallaho Alayhi Wasallam) also said, ”Go and get the knowledge even if you have to travel to china. Get the knowledge from wherever you can, it will be your truest wealth which had lost.”

Knowledge either religious or worldly, is compulsory for you. If you will stay away from worldly education, then you will be trailing in every sphere of life viz, economics, politics, science and technology etc. Without this modern education, you can never be a doctor, engineer, professor, collector, commissioner, lawyer etc. Being backward in education and literacy, you will be dependent on others.

There are some people in our community who are still away from modern education, lest the modern education has been started in almost every Madarsa. But it is a bitter truth that is some madarsas only religious education is imparted. It is a blunder to keep our children away from modern education. One the other side, modern education is being given importance but religious education is not. Both the religious and modern education are imperative for our progress. Therefore, the need of the hour is to equip our children with both religious as well as modern education. If the muslim community moves forward on the path of religious and modern education, the day is not far when the community will be greatly respected in the world. Only there is a need of will power and courage to educate our children and promote our Madarsas.

Alhamdulillah, Jamiya Fatima is the only Madarsa in Indore, where all the arrangements for not just few kalmas or Hadiths but for full Bukhari Sharif and in modern education the courses of National Institute of Open Schooling run by Govt. of India in English medium have been made to enable the students to face the difficulties in Banks, Hospitals, Railways and Government offices.
